Fed: Cabinet approves Labor workplace changes=2

Workplace Relations Minister JULIA GILLARD says many people have lost basic rights
like penalty rates and overtime under Work Choices.

Ms GILLARD says Labor's transition bill will ban any new AWAs.

And it'll charge the Australian Industrial Relations Commission with modernising Australia's
awards over a period .. ending on December 21 2009.

Ms GILLARD says a more substantive bill will be introduced into parliament next year
.. after a consultations with industrial relations stakeholders and a business advisory
group.
