Fed: No plans for Melbourne "lodge" for pM, Costello

PETER COSTELLO's hosed down talk of a prime-ministerial lodge being established in Melbourne.

The treasurer's been asked if he's aware of plans by the state Liberal Party .. or
the federal government .. to buy Melbourne's stately Stonington Mansion .. in Toorak.

Mr COSTELLO says the commonwealth has no plans to purchase the property .. and he says
the finances of the state Liberal Party wouldn't make them likely candidates to buy it.





Rumours of the purchase have been printed in News Limited papers .. and came from Stonnington
Council planning committee chairman STEVE STEFANOPOULOS.
