CO-OP OFFERS REWARDS FOR TRIPLE DES UPGRADES.(Brief Article)

CO-OP Network, the EFT network owned by credit unions, is offering members $400 for each ATM they upgrade to meet the Triple DES antifraud standards for protecting personal identification numbers. "We wanted to encourage early compliance," James A. Hanisch, executive vice president at Ontario, CA-based CO-OP, tells CardLine today. The total amount CO-OP has set aside for the program is $2.3 million, which will be available for an estimated 5,750 machines, Hanisch says. The incentives are available for the 4,100 ATMs CO-OP drives for its 1,725 members, 1,525 that members drive themselves, and some machines CO-OP expects to be added to the network in the near future.
